To believe like God will require a commitment from us. Certain elements, such as a relationship with His Spirit and Word, must exist in our lives. Any person who will commit to this can expect to have the words spoken from their mouths release God’s power.
To believe at the level, God calls us will require a commitment. I’ve prayed for people in meetings who did not receive anything. It bothered me when people would leave with disappointed looks on their faces until the Holy Spirit began to open my understanding. There are many reasons we cannot receive, but all are rooted in a lack of relationship with God and His Word.
I’ve spoken to some who had a “Plan B” in place when they came to the altar. The plan might have been a doctor’s appointment they had made in case their healing did not come. Genuine faith in God has no backup plan. It is either going to receive or die trying. Many have made a mess of things by trying to step out and believe without first having a Word spoken to them by the Holy Spirit.
Christians “try” the things of God, like a person who samples ice cream at a soda shop. Hell would be overflowing if they did the same thing regarding their salvation. Prayer for healing or finances is not always followed by feeling, just as a prayer for salvation is not. To believe like God will mean declaring victory when there is no physical evidence to indicate it has come.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. (James 2:19)
I have heard people talk about “believing” God. James tells us that the devils also believe in God. A natural “belief” differs from the belief we are discussing.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10)
A person who believes with their heart will see their actions follow.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23)
If you have made Jesus the Lord of Your life, His Spirit lives in your spirit. When you allow your spirit to give birth to your beliefs, His life will flow out of your heart, affecting the natural circumstances of your life.
Some ministers refer to a belief sourced in ourselves as mental assent. Many Christians agree mentally with the truths of Scripture but have no revelation. To see the power of God in manifestation, you will have to move beyond mental assent. The type of “belief” we are discussing is birthed in our spirit, allowing it to tap into the limitless power of God already deposited there.
You will be willing to stake your life when your beliefs are rooted in an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit and God’s Word. Any other type of belief will not bring about the results desired. The Church has been operating in a substandard human faith resulting in the powerless condition that has caused many to turn to the world or other religions for the answers they seek.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (John 20:25 – 29)
People have heard it must not be God’s will to heal today. They may have failed to receive or know someone who did not get what they sought. Regardless, they operate at the level of faith Thomas did when he refused to believe Jesus had been raised from the dead.
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: (2 Peter 1:3)
God’s Word provides precise information regarding His will for our lives. Jesus went to the cross as the complete sacrifice for our sins, and His atonement includes healing, deliverance, prosperity, etc. The provision has been made, and it is now up to us to either believe or not. God will never force us to receive His blessings, but regardless of our choice, He will always desire the best for us.
We have operated in a substandard level of faith. It is no wonder the power of God is not flowing in more significant measures today! I have heard Christians blame God for the lack of manifestation in their lives. The problem is not with Him. He has provided everything we could ever need in life. Peter tells us that we access His provision through “the knowledge of Him,” which is found in Scripture.
The Word of God reveals His will and plan for our lives. We struggle with finding those due to the number of ministers who have stood in pulpits explaining Scripture with natural reasoning instead of spiritual revelation. These men and women are effectually declaring that God did not mean what He had the Holy Spirit inspire the writers of Scripture to say.
Many people in churches think only those who have a string of degrees attached to their name can understand Scripture. We do not need to know the Greek and Hebrew, though, because we have the very one who inspired the authors living in our spirits! He is standing by to teach anyone who will acknowledge His presence and take time to listen.
The Word of God will work for anyone willing to pay the price to meditate on its truths until they become revelation knowledge. No amount of education is needed! Paul had an excellent education but told his readers in Galatia that he did not lean on it but instead received it by revelation (Galatians 1:9 – 12).
We are hindered from walking in the promises of God by unbelief fed by religious traditions. Ministers will take a Scripture like 2 Peter 1:3 and argue it means something other than physical needs being met. People hear these things and do not question them as they trust their minister and so do not question what is coming from the pulpit.
It is much easier to blame God for our failures in spiritual matters than to accept our unbelief. If you pray for someone and they fall dead, would you instead face the family and say God took them or that there is a possibility your faith was not at the level it needed to be? Of course, it is easier to push the blame off on God, but doing so will keep us from seeing His power flow.
